Custom Room Divider Wine Cellar with Metal Wall-Mount Racks
Wall-mounted or hanging wine racks are stylish and functional pieces that free up valuable floor space while creating a beautiful display.
Whether you are storing your wine at room temperature or inside an insulated storage area such as a wine cellar, you will want to ensure that your wine rack is installed correctly. By taking the time to mount your new wine rack carefully, you can ensure that there will be no accidents, less permanent damage to your wall and that the wine is stored securely.
Before we discuss installation, please note that each wine rack will have its own unique set of instructions provided by the manufacturer. While we will provide basic guidance in this post to give you an idea of how much assembly may be required from a wall-mounted wine rack, it is also important to carefully read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Basic Wall-Mounted Wine Rack Instructions
- First, choose a location for your wine rack. You must pick a vertical space that can withstand the wine rack's weight when filled with wine (approx. 100 lbs). You must allow 3-1/4 inches between the left and right side of the wine rack supports. If you choose to use more than one set of wine racks, allow at least 8 inches of space.
- It is best to install the metal wine racks over studs in the wall. If that is not possible, you will need to use wall anchors.
- Mounting is done by inserting three screws into each of the three holes located on the rack support. Ensure the proper amount of space between the left and right sides and the minimum amount of 8 inches between each set of racks.
Peg or Pin Wine Rack Installation
With peg or pin style wine racks, two arms, pegs, or pins are needed to hold a single bottle of wine. Your peg wine rack will have supports or arms, plus two bolts and two washers.
- Locate the backing board or the wall space where you will mount the wine pegs. Drill the appropriate number of holes, then insert the pegs into those holes.

Repeat these steps for any remaining pegs or pins.
