Ducted Wine Cooling Systems
11 products
Ducted cooling systems supply chilled air to a wine cellar through ducts.
They can be installed up to 25 ft away from the wine cellar to reduce noise and provide installation flexibility. Ducted cooling systems are designed to provide a subtle temperature between 50~65 °F for a properly insulated wine cellar. The humidity range of the refrigerated space can be maintained within 50~75% RH. These temperature and humidity ranges are optimized for long term storage of wine like that in natural caves. Multiple options of split or package ducted cooling systems can suit various installations. We now have the units that go up to 3300 cubic feet in coverage. We offer HZD-DE, SSH and DS series.
Our DS units use other components such as US designed pressure controls, the best compressor European branded and the best backwards impellers that are made in Germany to improve and trust the reliability.
The DS series range is over 10 years old, and they use better and quieter fans. These also use the best insulation and heavy duty sheet metal. Our first units are still in operation today.

DUCTED SYSTEMS
Ducted cooling systems supply chilled air to a wine cellar through ducts. They can be installed up to 25 ft away from the wine cellar to reduce noise and provide installation flexibility. Ducted cooling systems are designed to provide a subtle temperature between 50~65 °F for a properly insulated wine cellar. The humidity range of the refrigerated space can be maintained within 50~75% RH. These temperature and humidity ranges are optimized for long term storage of wine similar to the environment inside the wine caves of France. Multiple options of split or package ducted cooling systems can suit various installations. Wine-Mate now produces units powerful enough to cool spaces up to 3300 cubic feet. We offer HZD-DE, SSH, and DS series.
DS units by Wine-Mate incorporate high-quality parts including American designed pressure controls, the best European brand compressors, and German-made backward impellers. In addition, this popular series uses better fans that are whisper quiet. Heavy-duty sheet metal and premium insulation are used in the construction of the DS cooling systems. By including these top of the line components, Wine-Mate has improved the reliability of its products and developed some of the best cooling systems on the market.
Wine-Mate’s DS series has been produced for many years, with some units in operation for over 10 years, and some of the original Wine-Mate DS units still in use today.

What is the difference between a ducted system and a self-contained cellar cooling system?
A ducted cellar cooling system has both the evaporator and condenser located outside of the wine cellar, typically in a remote location such as a utility closet or a shaded outdoor area. On the inside of the wine room, the only evidence of the cooling system is the intake and exhaust grates, similar to a traditional central air conditioning system. Ducted units are perfect for wine collectors who do not have major budget limitations and those who would like the cellar cooling system hidden. Ducted units are much quieter than self-contained units since the mechanisms are placed outside of the cellar. Additionally, they can cool a considerably larger space than a self-contained unit.
Self-contained cellar cooling systems are all-in-one units that are relatively simple to install. Similar to a window air conditioning unit, they can simply be mounted and then plugged in as long as the unit can properly exhaust. In some cases, the unit can be ducted to provide more flexible installation options. Self-contained cellar cooling systems are cheaper than split or ducted cooling systems. They are more suitable for smaller wine rooms or cabinets. Because both the condenser and evaporator are inside the wine room, the unit does produce more sound than a split or ducted system. Aesthetically, these units are visible inside the cellar which may not be ideal for everyone.

Types of Ducted Cooling Systems:
Wine-Mate has designed a variety of ducted cooling systems to fit a variety of applications.
Self-Contained Exhaust Ducted Wine Cooling System: a partially duct-able version of the stand-alone HZD cooling system.
Packaged Central-Ducted Wine Cooling System: self-contained and fully ducted. They can be ducted from the cold side (evaporator) and the hot side (condenser). They may be installed in the basement, garage, attic, or roof. DS systems are packaged, self-contained, and ready to use with no additional piping required.
Split Central-Ducted Wine Cooling System: consists of a remote condensing unit and an evaporator unit that are connected by a liquid line and an insulated suction line. Both the evaporator and condenser can be installed outside of the wine room. The evaporator unit provides chilled air to the wine cellar through insulated ducts. Water-cooled units (WC) are water cooled so that the exhaust ventilation is not needed.
