Review: 32 Bottle Wine Cooler (Stainless)

October 18, 2006

"I live just outside of Palmdale, California where the summer temperatures get very hot. Fruit left on the counter in this environment tends to spoil rather than ripen. A couple of years ago I purchased a Model 32 (trash compactor size) and replaced the upper two racks with sheets of lexan as a makeshift shelf.

Over the past two summers, I have used the wine chiller to store peaches, nectarines, apples, pears, avocados, and tomatoes. The temperature of the unit was left at the default setting (55F I believe). The fruit tends to properly, but slowly ripen instead of going from green to rotting and/or getting mealy."
